Far From Your Home

About the Song

I have been toying with this one for a few years, having begun the concept for the first section on the 555.  I was intrigued with setting a dark lyrical theme in an otherwise light musical setting.  But it sat in the guitar case until the T5 arrived and breathed new life into it.  This guitar has a way raising the overall temperature of a song (as opposed to the RG1570 which focuses its heat like a laser beam).  It also interacts nicely with the Jazz Bass.

Far From Your Home is about living with loss.  Grieving and going on.  Coping through identification with Christ.  These are themes that have found their way into my music before, though some might wonder what I could know about such things--hopefully my fair share is all I shall say.

your eyes are sad and weary
as you watch your hopes and dreams
appearing to be crumbling
and blowing away
blowing away
you've nearly lost your sanity
just trying to make some sense of it all
but you know it's not
mysterious at all
you're far from your home
you're far from your home

faith will bring you courage
and love will bring you strength
the faces of the children
will show you the way
they show you the way
the music of a higher place
the story of the price of His love
these signs of His life
will keep you moving on
far from your home
far from your home

in the moment of your weakness
when you're weeping in the dark
remember and believe it
it's the moment
when you know Him as you've never known before

you're far from your home

He was...a man of sorrows and familiar with suffering.     Is 53:3

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.    Ps 34:18

They admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.  People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.  If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.  Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one.    Heb 11:13-16
